Cyproheptadine Description: Cyproheptadine, an antihistamine, relieves red, irritated, itchy, watery eyes; sneezing; and runny nose caused by allergies, hay fever, and the common cold. Diethylstilbestrol Description: Estrogen is needed for normal growth and development of female sex organs and for natural functions such as bearing children. Diethylstilbestrol is similar to estrogen, a hormone produced by the body. Diethylstilbestrol is used to relieve feelings of warmth in the face, neck, and chest; and sweating that occurs during menopause. It is also used for conditions caused by insufficient estrogen including dry, itchy external genitals and vaginal irritation. It is also prescribed for young women who do not mature physically at the usual rate and for breast and prostate cancers.

Digoxin Description: Digoxin helps an injured or weakened heart to work efficiently and to send blood through the body. It strengthens the force of the heart muscle"s contractions, helps restore a normal steady heart rhythm, improves blood circulation, and helps remove excess water from the tissues. It relieves symptoms of heart failure such as swelling of the lower legs and ankles and shortness of breath.

Diltiazem Description: Diltiazem increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart, thereby controlling or relieving chest pain (angina pectoris). Diltiazem is also used to control high blood pressure, and it relaxes the heart so that it does not have to pump as hard.

Diphenhydramine Oral Description: Diphenhydramine, an antihistamine, relieves red, irritated, itchy, watery eyes; sneezing; and runny nose caused by hay fever, allergies, and the common cold. Disulfiram Description: Disulfiram is used to treat chronic alcoholism. It causes unpleasant side effects when even small amounts of alcohol are consumed. These side effects include flushing of the face, headache, nausea, vomiting, chest pain, weakness, blurred vision, mental confusion, sweating, choking, breathing difficulty, and anxiety. These effects begin about 10 minutes after alcohol enters the body and last for one hour or more.

Piroxicam Description: Piroxicam relieves the pain and stiffness caused by certain types of arthritis. It also has been used to relieve menstrual pain and pain after surgery and childbirth.

Plicamycin Description: Plicamycin slows or stops the growth of cancer cells in your body. The purpose of chemotherapy is to control your illness so that your own body can aid in your recovery. It is important to build up your body"s defense system, and a balanced diet is needed to build a healthy body. Ask your doctor for advice on your diet.

Polymyxin Bacitracin And Neomycin Description: This combination of antibiotics is used to treat eye infections and to prevent and treat localized skin infections.

Potassium Description: Potassium is essential for the proper functioning of the heart, kidneys, muscles, nerves, and digestive system. Usually the food you eat supplies all of the potassium you need. However, certain diseases (e.g., kidney disease and gastrointestinal disease with vomiting and diarrhea) and drugs, especially diuretics, remove potassium from the body. Potassium supplements are taken to replace potassium losses and prevent potassium deficiency.

Prazepam Description: Prazepam is used to relieve anxiety.

Prazosin Description: Prazosin controls high blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily through the body. It also has been used, with other medication, to treat heart failure.

Prednisolone Ophthalmic Description: Prednisolone reduces the irritation, redness, burning, and swelling of eye inflammation caused by chemicals, heat, radiation, infection, allergy, or foreign objects in the eye. It sometimes is used after eye surgery.

Prednisone Description: Prednisone, a corticosteroid, is similar to a natural hormone produced by our adrenal glands. It relieves inflammation (swelling, heat, redness, and pain) and is used to-treat certain forms of arthiritis and skin, blood, kidney, eye, thyroid, and intestinal disorders (e.g., colitis). Prednisone also is used with other drugs to prevent rejection of transplanted organs and to treat ceratain types of cancer, severe allergies, and asthma.

Primidone Description: Primidone acts on the brain and nervous system to control convulsions and seizures.

Probenecid Description: Probenecid is used to treat certain types of chronic gout and arthritis but not gout attacks. It acts on the kidneys to help the body eliminate uric acid in the urine. Probenecid also is used to make certain antibiotics more effective by preventing the body from passing them in the urine.

Probucol Description: Probucol is used with diet changes (restriction of cholesterol and fat intake) to reduce the amount of cholesterol and certain fatty substances in your blood. Accumulation of cholesterol and fats along the walls of your arteries decreases blood flow and, therefore, the oxygen supply to your heart, brain, and other parts of your body. Lowering your blood level of cholesterol and fats may help to prevent heart disease, angina, strokes, and heart attacks.

Procainamide Description: Procainamide is used to treat irregular heartbeat. It relaxes an overactive heart and improves the efficiency of the heart"s pumping action.

Procarbazine Description: Procarbazine is used in combination with other chemotherapies to treat Hodgkin"s disease. Hodgkin"s disease is a cancer of the lymph nodes.

Prochlorperazine Description: Prochlorperazine is a tranquilizer used to treat emotional and mental conditions. It also controls nausea and vomiting caused by radiation therapy, cancer chemotherapy, surgery, and various conditions.

Promethazine Description: Promethazine relieves itchy, red, irritated, watery eyes; runny nose; sneezing; and itchy skin caused by hay fever and allergies. It also is used for motion sickness, before and after surgery as a sedative to relieve apprehension, and to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting.

Propantheline Description: Propantheline relieves cramping, pain, and spasms in the stomach and intestines. It is used with other medication to treat ulcers.

Propoxyphene Description: Propoxyphene is used to relieve mild to moderate pain.

Propranolol Description: Propranolol is used to treat high blood pressure and heart pain i.e., angina. It also is used to prevent migraine headaches and recurrence of heart attacks.

Propylthiouracil Description: Propylthiouracil is used to treat hyperthyroidism, a condition that occurs when the thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone. It also is taken before thyroid surgery.

Pseudoephedrine And Triprolidine Description: The combination of pseudoephedrine ( a decongestant) and triprolidine (an antihistamine) relieves itchy, watery eyes; sneezing; and runny or stuffy nose caused by hay fever, allergies, and the common cold.

Pyrantel Description: Pyrantel is used to treat worm infections.

Pyridoxine Description: Pyridoxine, vitamin B6, is required by your body for utilization of energy in the foods you eat, production of red blood cells, and proper functioning of nerves. It is used to treat and prevent vitamin B6 deficiency resulting from poor diet, certain medications, and some medical conditions.

Quinidine Description: Quinidine is used to treat irregular heartbeat. It relaxes an overactive heart and improves the efficiency of the heart"s pumping action.

Quinine Description: Quinine is used to prevent and treat malaria and nighttime leg muscle cramps.

Secobarbital Description: Secobarbital, a barbiturate, is used in the short-term treatment of insomnia-to help you fall asleep. It also is used as a sedative to relieve anxiety before surgery.

Selenium Sulfide Description: Selenium sulfide, an anti-infective agent, relieves itching and flaking of the scalp and removes the dry, scaly particles that are commonly referred to as dandruff or seborrhea.

Silver Sulfadiazine Description: Silver sulfadiazine is used to prevent and treat infections of second-and third-degree burns. It kills a wide variety of bacteria.

Spironolactone Description: Spironolactone is used to treat high blood pressure and water retention caused by conditions such as heart and liver disease and lung problems. It causes the kidneys to eliminate unneeded water into the urine.

Stool Softeners Description: Stool softeners soften stools, making them easier to pass. They are taken on a short-term basis to relieve constipation by people who should avoid straining during bowel movements because of heart conditions, hemorrhoids, and other problems.

Sucralfate Description: Sucralfate is used to treat ulcers. It adheres to damaged ulcer tissue and protects against acid and enzymes so healing can occur.

Sulfacetamide Ophthalmic Description: Sulfacetamide stops the growth of bacteria that cause certain eye infections. It is used to treat eye infections and to prevent them after injuries.

Sulfamethoxazole Description: Sulfamethoxazole, a sulfa drug, eliminates bacteria that cause infections, especially urinary tract infections.

Sulfasalazine Description: Sulfasalazine is a sulfa drug used to relieve and prevent irritation of the colon and rectum caused by mild or moderate ulcerative colitis.

Sulfisoxazole Description: Sulfisoxazole, a sulfa drug, eliminate bacteria that cause infections, especially urinary tract infections.

Sulindac Description: Sulindac relieves the pain, tenderness, inflammation, swelling, and stiffness caused by certain types of arthritis, including gout.

Tamoxifen Description: Tamoxifen has been used to treat both advanced and early stage breast cancer. It has been used for nearly 20 years to treat patients with advanced breast cancer.

Temazepam Description: Temazepam is used on a short-term basis to treat insomnia - to help you fall asleep and stay asleep through the night.

Terazosin Description: Terazosin controls high blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily through the body. It also has been used to treat urinating difficulty due to an enlarged prostate gland.

Terbutaline Description: Terbutaline, a bronchodilator, relaxes and opens the air passages to the lungs, making it easier to breather. It is used to relieve asthma attacks and troubled breathing caused by emphysema, bronchitis, and other lung diseases.

Terconazole Description: Terconazole, an antifungal agent, is used to treat fungal infections of the vagina.

Terfenadine Description: Terfenadine, an antihistamine, is used to relieve hay fever and allergy symptoms including runny nose, sneezing, throat irritation, and red, irritated, itchy, and tearing eyes. It causes fewer side effects, particularly drowsiness, than other antihistamines.

Tetracycline Description: Tetracycline, an antibiotic, eliminates bacteria that cause infections, including, lyme disease, pneumonia, acne, venereal or sexually transmitted disease, and bladder infections. It is not effective for viral infections such as the common cold.

Theophylline Description: Theophylline, a bronchodilator, relaxes and opens the air passages to the lungs, making it easier to breathe. It relieves shortness of breath, wheezing, and troubled breathing caused by asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema. It also suppresses asthma caused by exercise.

Thiamine Description: Thiamine is a vitamin used by the body to break down sugars in the diet. The medication helps correct nerve and heart problems that occur when a person"s diet does not contain enough thiamine. It also is used to treat alcoholism, stomach or bowel diseases, and numbness or tingling in the feet and legs associated with pregnancy.

Thioguanine Description: Thioguanine is chemotherapy that is given as a treatment for some types of cancer. Thioguanine slows or stops the growth of cancer cells in your body.

Timolol Oral Description: Timolol is used tocontrol high blood pressure and to prevent heart pain and recurrence of heart attacks.

Tobramycin Ophthalmic Description: Tobramycin kills bacteria that cause certain eye infections.

Tocainide Description: Tocainide is used to treat and prevent irregular heartbeats i.e., arrhythmias. It acts on the heart muscle to improve the heart"s rhythm.

Tolazamide Description: Tolazamide is used to treat type II or noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, particularly in people whose diabetes cannot be controlled by diet alone or who cannot tolerate insulin injections. Tolazamide helps to lower blood sugar by stimulating the pancreas to secrete insulin and helping the body use insulin efficiently. The pancreas must be capable of producing insulin for this medication to work. Tolazamide is not used to treat type I or insulin-dependent diabetes.

Tolbutamide Description: Tolbutamide is used to treat type II i.e., noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, particularly in people whose diabetes cannot be controlled by diet alone or who cannot tolerate insulin injections. Tolbutamide helps to lower blood sugar by stimulating the pancreas to secrete insulin and helping the body use insulin efficiently. The pancreas must be capable of producing insulin for this medication to work. Tolbutamide is not used to treat type I i.e., insulin-dependent diabetes.

Tolemetin Description: Tolmetin relieves the pain, tenderness, inflammation, swelling, and stiffness caused by certain types of arthritis.

Tolnaftate Description: Tolnaftate stops the growth of fungi that cause skin infections, including athlete"s foot, jock itch, and body ringworm.

Tranylcypromine Description: Tranylcypromine, a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor, is an antidepressant i.e., mood elevator. It is used to treat depression.

Trazodone Description: Trazodone is an antidepressant drug used to treat depression and anxiety. Trazodone has also been used to treat the shakiness, anxiety, and depression associated with alcoholism.

Tretinoin Description: Tretinoin is used to treat acne and various skin conditions. It promotes peeling of affected skin areas and unclogs pores. Tretinoin controls acne but does not cure it.

Triamcinolone Inhalation Description: Triamcinolone, a corticosteroid, is similar to a natural hormone produced by your adrenal glands. It is used to manage severe chronic bronchial asthma. Triamcinolone inhalation is not used for the rapid relief of breathing problems. If you do not have another drug inhaler for prompt relief of breathing difficulty, ask your doctor to prescribe one.

Triamcinolone Topical Description: Triamcinolone is used to treat the itching, redness, inflammation, and discomfort of various skin conditions. It also is used to relieve the discomfort of mouth sores.

Triamterene Description: Triamterene is used to treat water retention caused by conditions such as heart, kidney, and liver disease. It causes the kidneys to eliminate unneeded water from the body into the urine.

Trifluoperazine Description: Trifluoperazne is a tranquilizer used to treat emotional and mental conditions.

Trihexyphenidyl Description: Trihexyphenidyl is used to treat Parkinson"s disease and to control the side effects of certain other drugs.

Trimeprazine Description: Trimeprazine, an antihistamine, relieves the itching caused by eczema and various skin rashes, including allergic skin rashes caused by poison ivy.

Trimethadione Description: Trimethadione acts on the brain and nervous system to control absence or petite mal seizures.

Trimethobenzamide Description: Trimethobenzamide controls nausea and vomiting. It is prescribed for patients with the flu and other illness.

Valproic Acid Description: Valporic acid is used, alone with other drugs, to control seizures and convulsions.

Verapamil Description: Verapamil is used to control irregular heartbeats, to control or relieve heart pain i.e., angina pectoris, and to lower blood pressure.

Vinblastine Description: It is an alkaloid based anticancer drug obtained from the periwinkle plant. Vinblastine belongs to the group of medicines known as antineoplastic agents. It is used to treat certain kinds of cancer, including lymphoma and cancer of the breast or testicles, as well as some noncancerous conditions.

Vincristine Description: Vincristine is chemotherapy that is given as a treatment for some types of cancer. Vincristine is used to treat Kaposi"s sarcoma (a type of cancer) and non-Hodgkin"s lymphoma. Kaposi"s sarcoma has become the fourth most common AIDS-defining illness. Non-Hodgkin"s lymphomas are a category of cancers that have become increasingly common in people with AIDS.

Warfarin Description: Warfarin, an anticoagulant, prevents harmful blood clots from forming or getting larger.

Zidovudine Description: Zidovudine is used to treat symptoms of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) or advanced AIDS-related complex (ARC). Treatment with zidovundine dose not prevent the spread of AIDS to other people. This drug cannot cure HIV infections, but it may decrease the frequency and severity of complications associated with AIDS and ARC. Zidovudine may slow or stop the progression of HIV infections.
