Phentermine Description

Generic Name : PHENTERMINE

Why it is prescribed: Phentermine is used, in combination with diet, to help you lose weight.

When it is to be taken: Phentermine is usually taken as a single daily dose in the morning or three times a day 30 minutes before meals. Follow the instructions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor to explain any part that you do not understand. Phentermine usually is taken for only a few weeks; the drug may lose its effectiveness after this period.

How it should be taken: Phentermine comes in tablets and capsules. Your prescription label tells you how much to take at each dose.

Special Instruction :
1. Take only the amount of medication prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more of it or take it more often than as instructed. Phentermine may be habit-forming.
2. Follow your diet while taking phentermine.
3. Phentermine may decrease your alertness or coordination. Do not drive a car or operate dangerous machinery until you know how it affects you.
4. if you forget to take a dose, omit the missed dose completely: then take the next dose at the regularly scheduled time.

Side Effects :
1. Dry mouth, unpleasant taste. Suck sugarless lozenges or hard candies, chew sugarless gum, and drink fluids.
2. Diarrhea, vomiting. If these effects are severe or persistent, contact your doctor.
3. Heart palpitations, restlessness, dizziness, tremor, insomnia. Contact your doctor.

Other Precautions :
1. If you have heart disease, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, glaucoma, or a history of drug abuse, tell your doctor before taking phentermine.
2. Tell your doctor what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, especially guanethidine, insulin, and MAO inhibitors, even if you stopped taking them within the past two weeks.
3. If you have diabetes, you may need a larger dose of insulin while taking phentermine. Consult your doctor if you have questions or problems.
4. Women who are pregnant should inform their doctors before taking phentermine. If you become pregnant while taking it, contact your doctor promptly.
5. Do not allow anyone else to take this medication.

Storage Conditions :
1. Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of the reach of children.
2. Store it at room temperature.
