This article presents various Reiki symbols used to activate Reiki energy and discusses the purpose of each.
Reiki practinioners use symbols to activate the Reiki energy flow and connect to various aspects of the body-mind connection and the universe. Since Dr. Usui has introduced the original symbols in 1922, some of those were modified and even new new symbols were introduced by other practitioners. Here you can find the symbols used by the majority of the Reiki healers.
The very first symbol is "Cho Ku Rei" aka "Reiki Power Symbol". It means "Power of the Universe, Come Here Now."It directs energy to the physical body.Even though students are attuned to this symbol at Level 1, usually they study and start using that symbol only after taking the Level 2 course. My teacher has taught me that symbol at Level 1.
The next symbol is "Sei Hei Kei" aka "Mental/Emotional Symbol" or "Harmony". It means "Mind Be Still". This is
Mental Symbol and it's used for purification, cleansing and
protection. It directs energy to the emotional body or subconscious
