Rock N' Roll Comics No. 45 - Grateful Dead (Revolution Comics, 3481 Fourth
St., San Diego, CA 92103) The first of three comics of an 'unauthorized'
history of the Grateful Dead. The drawings are black and white, and at the
top of each page are quotes from the Dead's songs. Published in March, 1992.
These are 'unauthorized' in the sense that the publisher released these
without the Dead's approval, claiming that the Grateful Dead were public
figures, and as such, approval was not needed to write about them.

Rock N' Roll Comics No. 46 - Grateful Dead (Revolution Comics, 3481 Fourth
St., San Diego, CA 92103) The second comic in this 'unauthorized' history of
the Grateful Dead in three comic books. Published in April, 1992.

Rock N' Roll Comics No. 47 - Grateful Dead (Revolution Comics, 3481 Fourth
St., San Diego, CA 92103) The third comic in this 'unauthorized' history of
the Grateful Dead in three comic books. Published in May, 1992.

Companies With A Conscience: Intimate Portraits Of Twelve Firms That Make A
Difference - Mary Scott (Birch Lane Press, 1992) This book includes an
account of the Grateful Dead organization, with many comments from the band
members and others in the organization. Other chapters cover Patagonia,
Ben & Jerry, and Greystone Bakery.

Grateful Dead Comix - edited by Jeff Tamarkin and David Scheiner (Kitchen Sink
Press/Hyperion, 1992, ISDN 1-56782-971-8) A book format of the four comics
published by Kitchen Sink Press. The introduction to the book is by Jerry
Garcia. It includes the following songs and stories: "Dire Wolf", "Casey
Jones", "Friend Of The Devil", "Red Rocks", "Cumberland Blues", "Tennessee
Jed", "Terrapin (Lady With A Fan)", "Terrapin (Continued)", "Truckin'", "The
Lille Story", "The Golden Road (To Unlimited Devotion)", "Sugaree", "One More
Saturday Night", "St. Stephen", and "Mexicali Blues". Published in May, 1992.

Grateful Dead Comix - Number 5 (Kitchen Sink Press, No. 2 Swamp Rd.,
Princeton, WI 54968) Issue Number 5 includes: "Sugar Magnolia", "Uncle John's
Band", "Woodstock", "The Dead In Milwaukee", and more.

Grateful Dead Comix - Number 6 (Kitchen Sink Press, No. 2 Swamp Rd.,
Princeton, WI 54968) Issue Number 6 includes: "U.S. Blues", "Shakedown
Street", "Box Of Rain", and "Eagle Mall - Part I". "Eagle Mall" is a suite,
written by Robert Hunter in '68 or '69, with the intention of being performed
by the Grateful Dead. Published in October, 1992.

Grateful Dead Comix - edited by Jeff Tamarkin and David Scheiner (Kitchen Sink
Press, No. 2 Swamp Road, Princeton, WI 54968, 1992) A limited edition of 500
signed and numbered copies in hardcover with slipcase. Each book includes a
tip-in plate signed by Jerry Garcia. This is a reprint of all the stories
in "Grateful Dead Comix 1 - 4", on coated paper, and re-shot for better
printing. The introduction to the book is by Jerry Garcia. It includes the
following songs and stories: "Dire Wolf", "Casey Jones", "Friend Of The

Aces Back To Back: A History Of The Grateful Dead - Scott Allen (Aces, Inc.,
P.O. Box 95, Armonk, NY 10504, 1991) A most detailed account of the Grateful
Dead and their history, by a writer at Relix magazine. The book was started
in 1980. Available from the author.

Spit In The Ocean: A Literary Publication - Issue #6 - The Cassady Issue
(Edited by Ken Babbs) Includes articles by Jerry Garcia and "Ramrod"
Shurtliff, as well as previously unpublished manuscripts by Neil Cassady.

Aesthetics Of The Grateful Dead - David Womack (Flying Public Press, P.O. Box
112, Palo Alto, CA 94301, 1991) This book covers the relationship between
music critics and the Dead, the Dead's lyrics and musical styles, and a review
of all the Dead's recordings. Can be ordered from the publisher for $12.95.

J. Garcia: Paintings, Drawings, And Prints - J. Garcia (Ten Speed Press c/o

page book includes 35 black-and-white and 40 color images of Jerry Garcia's

Goin' Down The Road: A Grateful Dead Traveling Companion - Blair Jackson (New
York: Harmony Books, 1992) This book contains interviews with Garcia, Weir,
Hart, Kreutzman, Lesh, Hunter, Donna Jean Godchaux, and Hunter and Garcia.
Also included are sections on the start and demise of Grateful Dead and Round
Records, Neal Cassady, and "Roots: Under The Dead's Covers". Much of the
material has previously appeared in various issues of "Golden Road" magazine.
