Off The Record: An Oral History Of Popular Music - Joe Smith (Warner Books
Inc., 1989, ISBN 0-446-39090-9) This book of interviews includes an interview
with Jerry Garcia and one with Mickey Hart, each two to three pages long.

Book Of The Dead - Herb Greene (Delta Books and Delacorte Press, 1990) 150
black and white photos of the Grateful Dead taken by Herb Greene. The forward
is written by Robert Hunter. Most of the photos are from two time periods:
1967 to 1968, and 1987, during the "In The Dark" sessions. Published in
April, 1990.

1990) This 240 page book is about drumming and it's influences on people and
music. A musical companion to this book ("At The Edge" by Mickey Hart,
Rykodisc RCD 10124) was also released.

by Grateful Dead Merchandising and published in November, 1990. It was also
published in the UK by Fantail/Plume under the title "Built To Last - 25 Years
Of The Grateful Dead".

The Dead (Volume 1 Of A Trilogy) - Hank Harrison (The Archive Press, 334 State
Street, Suite 536, Los Altos, CA 94022, 1990, ISBN 0-918501-49-0) A revised
edition of his "The Dead Book". This edition is a larger size and has a
different (snake/bird) cover.

On The Bus - Paul Perry and Ken Babbs (Thunder's Mouth Press, ISBN
0-938410-91-1, Ken Babbs, 81774 Lost Creek Road, Dexter, OR 97431) This book
about the 1964 cross country trip on The Bus. It includes a foreword by Jerry
Garcia. The book is 224 pages long and has over 100 photos.

J. Garcia Limited Edition Prints - Jerry Garcia (Nora Sage Murray, The Art
Peddler, P.O. Box 1371, San Rafael, CA 94915, (415) 454-7331) These are a
series of paintings done by Garcia in 1986 after his recovery. Published in
the Spring of 1990 as a limited edition of 500 signed and numbered prints,
with an image size of 19 inches by 24 inches. The series includes "Wetlands
I", "Wetlands II", "Facets I", and "Iceberg". "Wetlands I" and "Wetlands II"
are similar pieces in that they both show a watery/marsh landscape done in
vibrant colors. The sky has a sunset quality to it, and is reflected in the
water. "Facets I" is many overlapped diamond shapes in reds and blues.
"Iceberg" is many overlapping diamond shapes in blues.

Box Of Rain - Robert Hunter (Viking, 1990) This 384 page book of Hunter's
lyrics includes some unpublished songs and his notes on how some of the songs
were written. Published in October, 1990.

The History Of The Grateful Dead - William Ruhlmann (Gallery Books, W. H.
Smith Publishing, Inc., 112 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10016, ISBN
0-8317-3976-2, 1990) Released in February, 1991, this short history of the
band covers the Dead through early 1990, and includes a poster (photo of the
band playing at night).

Garcia: A Signpost To New Space - Jerry Garcia, Charles Reich, and Jann
Wenner (Citadel Underground (800-447-BOOK), 1991) A reprint of the book first
published in 1972.
