Truckin' With The Grateful Dead To Egypt - Robert Nichols (Moonbow Press,
Quincy, CA, 1984) A description of the Grateful Dead's 1978 Egypt trip.
Published on September 14, 1984. Nichols was to publish a second book,
entitled "Truckin' With The Grateful Dead: USA", but it has not been
published.
Guitar - ( ) The December, 1987 issue (on pp. 84-96) includes a tablature for
"Sugar Magnolia", an interview with Bobby with a 4-page foldout picture. In
the interview, Bob Weir explains a little about the song: "On 'Sugar
Magnolia' I'm a cross between a brass section and a guitar. I'm playing lot's
of triads punctuated by a liner here and there. I play in sort of the alto
register and that's the brass section. When I play in the baritone register
that's the guitar. It goes back and forth."

York, 1985) A collection of various quotes from the band and lots of pictures.

was published in 1996 with a new closing chapter, with more photographs, which
covers the ten years between the original publication in 1985 and the death
of Jerry Garcia on August 9, 1995.
The Dead Book: Vol. 1 Of A Trilogy - Hank Harrison (Archives Press, San
Francisco, 1985) A reprint of his first book.
Commies From Mars - The Red Planet, The Collected Works - Tim Boxell and
contributing artists (Last Gasp, S.F., 1985, ISBN 0-86719-343-3) This
anthology is a reprint of the four issues in the series "Commies From Mars".
It has a one page introduction, hand written and signed "Maj. Gen. (Ret) J.
Garcia" with a drawing by Tim Boxell of Garcia with guitar, dressed in full
uniform of 'Commies From Mars'.
Blues For Allah - Jigstars Officially Licensed 250 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle - a
jigsaw puzzle of the album cover manufactured under license in the UK by The

account about 'touring' Heads includes an introduction by R. Hunter.

Dead's appearances and songlists from 1965 to 1987 plus other important and

Duino Elegies - Ranier Maria Rilke (Hulogosi, Eugene, OR, 1988) Translated
from German by Robert Hunter, with block prints by Maureen Hunter. This was
released as a joint paperback/tape edition: on the 40 minute long tape,
Hunter reads with Tom Constanten's accompaniment on piano of pieces by Brahms,
Chopin, and Scriabin. The Hunter/Constanten performance came from a public
radio broadcast (possibly performed on July 9, 1988 in San Francisco).
Alleys Of The Heart - Robert M. Petersen (Hulogosi, Eugene, OR, 1988) A
collection of poems, with a forward by Robert Hunter. Includes "Far Away
Radios". The book was published in 1988, following Petersen's death in
January, 1987.
Grateful Dead - Kay Rowley (Atalanta Press, Unit 16, Riverside Road, Wimbledon
Stadium Business Estate, London, SW17 0BA, UK, 1988, ISBN 1-870049-13-6) This
11 by 17 inch book contains a short history of the band and reproduces
pictures and posters. It is part of the "Poster Book - a book of 20 tear out
posters" series.
