I just bought a radial arm saw and I am attempting to align it.
Anyway, I found something that is troubling me. I put a straight edge
on the table at 0 degrees for the purpose of aligning the radial arm.
I put a micrometer on the base of the carriage and pulled it along the
straight edge. While I was able to get the arm close (degree wise) --
I found that the carriage does not track exactly along the straight edge.
In other words, the carriage, when pulled from the rear of the saw
to the front, does NOT follow a straight line. It follows a curve.
It deviates from a straight line by .025" in the CENTER of the length
of travel. In other words, a "belly" or concavity.
