Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiero. Released in January, 1988 (possibly
November, 1987).

the cover.
Touch Of Grey / Throwing Stones (Ashes Ashes) - Grateful Dead (Arista Flash
AFS 9696) Released in May, 1988.
Touch Of Grey - Grateful Dead ( ) a 'Muzak' version of this song has been used
by the Musak Corporation.
I Will Not Buy - (WBCN, Boston) In 1987, after "In The Dark" was released,
WBCN in Boston produced a parody of "Touch Of Grey" called "I Will Not Buy".
It was used to open a segment on the Ken Shelton show called the "Mighty Lunch
Hour", in which every day he played some sort of parody of a popular song.
Silvio (3:05) / Driftin' Too Far From Shore (3:38) - Bob Dylan (Columbia
38-07970) Hunter wrote "Silvio" and Garcia, Weir, and Mydland sing backup on
"Silvio".
Liberty - Robert Hunter (Relix RRCD 2029 S) A promo CD single containing
"Liberty", "Bone Alley", and "Do Deny". Released in December, 1988.
Alternate Versions - Henry Kaiser (SST Records CD3 027) A three inch CD
single which includes a remixed "Mason's Children" with Tom Constanten added
on piano and organ. Released in January, 1989.
3 Inches Of The World - Mickey Hart (Rykodisc RCD3 1009) A three inch CD
single.
Alabama Getaway / Shakedown Street / Throwing Stones - Grateful Dead (Arista

415S-0013) On this seven inch single, side A has a "punk" version of
"Trucking" and side B has a "rap" version.
California Earthquake - Grateful Dead ( ) A live version of Rodney Crowell's
1978 song about the famous 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The song was
recorded during the October 20, 1989 show and made available for airplay
on the West Coast around October 31, 1989. The proceeds from this single are
being donated to the Red Cross's Earthquake Relief Fund for victims of the
Santa Cruz earthquake of October 17, 1989.
Mayor Barry: Tryin' To Campaign - Paul Harris (WCXR, Alexandria, VA, (703)
683-3000)) After Washington, D.C. Mayor Marion Barry was arrest on drug
charges, a two and half minute long parody song was produced, using the Dead's
melody to "Casey Jones": 'Trying to campaign, High on cocaine...'. Produced
in February, 1990 and aired only on WCXR.
In The Midnight Hour (8:50) / Death Don't Have No Mercy (8:10) - Grateful Dead
(Koine Records RK20089) A 33rpm seven inch vinyl single inserted in the
Italian magazine Ripple (Volume 1 - Dead 1). "Midnight Hour" is from February
14, 1968 at the Carousel Ballroom. "Death Don't Have No Mercy" is credited to
'Garcia, Lesh, Hart' and is from October 10, 1968 at the Matrix, San
Francisco. (Ripple c/o Pasquale di Bello, via Del Saletto 1/4, 50142 Firenze,
Italy, tel: 055/7877950) Released as a result of copyright time limits
expirations in Italy.
High Time (5:35) / Cumberland Blues (5:05) - Grateful Dead (Wild Bird Records
R890924) A 33 rpm seven inch vinyl single inserted into the Italian magazine
Ripple (Volume 1 - Dead 2). These are both listed as from August 16, 1969 at
Woodstock, which does not agree with DeadBase XI. (Ripple c/o Pasquale di

Black Muddy River - Danny Carnahan and Robin Petrie ( ) recorded especially
for the February 17, 1991 'Grateful Dead Marathon' on KPFA hosted by David
Gans. John Diliberto was recording them for his program "Echoes", and David
Gans asked him to ask them to do a Dead song. Also played on "Grateful Dead
Hour Number 208".
