I've been planning on buying a belt sander this summer, and am wondering
if your recommendations would go so far as to endorse the Porter-Cable
instead of a belt sander for most applications? Most of the woodworking
i do does not involve large surfaces, but there are occasional cabinet
doors and bookshelves. I wouldn't mind trading off a little extra time
for flexibility and reduced risk of gauging. Since the prices of the P-C
mail order seem comparable to mid-range belt sanders, this seems to be
an either-or decision for me.
