I have a RYOBI 3 HP variable speed electronic router installed under a
table I built from plans in WOODSMITH magazine. I'm very happy with the
router, it does everything I need of it. Under the table all the controls
are conveniently located together so there's no searching around.
I got it mail order for under $200, a lot cheaper than the ELU. Having
used it for making raised panel doors with a panel raiser bit and stile
and rail bits I'm very happy with the results.
The height adjuster is a large knob, easily accessible but with no real
coarse control other than the usual stops. I haven't found this to be a
problem; at the worst it means 20 seconds of knob turning.
