ROUTERS:
I have the 3HP Makita square-based plunge router and like it
(the usual Makita high-quality). About the only thing I would
change is to put the on/off switch on the handle itself, for
easy reach. I believe that either the Bosche or Porter-Cable
plunge router has this feature.

It was ~160$ at Abbey Tools, Anaheim, CA (w/ads in Fine
Woodworking).

MITER SAWS:
Shades of Sears! I bought their HD 10" compound power mitre
saw about six months ago. It's heavy! Seems to be made well
and has plenty of power. It happens to actually be made by
SKILL.

Unfortunately, my first *two* cordless top-of-the-line SKILL
drill/skrewdrivers gave up the ghosts (and clutches) within 6
months of purchase. I turned the first one in for the second
one, and threw the second one out. I bought a Makita and it
still works beautifully after a year of hard work.
