09 Electronic Anime Resources: Internet Newsgroups
These are USENET newsgroups related to anime & manga. Several of these newsgroups have mailing lists which "echo" the actual newsgroup. By sending mail to these mailing lists, you are in effect posting to the newsgroup.
- Alt.binaries.pictures.anime: For the posting of electronic anime images. No known mailing list exists for this newsgroup.
- Alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.anime: For the posting of adult-oriented electronic anime images. No known mailing list exists for this newsgroup.
- Alt.fan.bgcrisis: an internet newsgroup devoted to Bubblegum Crisis/Crash & ADPolice. No known mailing list exists for this newsgroup.
- Alt.fan.r-takahashi: an internet newsgroup devoted to Rumiko Takahashi and her works. No known mailing list exists for this newsgroup.
- Alt.fan.sailor-moon: an internet newsgroup devoted to Naoko Takeuchi's manga/anime series Sailor Moon in both its Japanese and American incarnations. No known mailing list exists for this newsgroup though a seperate newsgroup devoted to sailor moon does exist.
- Alt.fan.robotech: an internet newsgroup devoted to Robotech. No known mailing list exists for this newsgroup though there is a Robotech mailing list seperate and distinct from the newsgroup. This group replaces the alt.tv.robotech group. (see below)
- Alt.tv.robotech: an internet newsgroup devoted to Robotech. No known mailing list exists for this newsgroup though there is a Robotech mailing list seperate and distinct from the newsgroup. Note that this newsgroup may not available on every news server due to the fact that an rmgroup was sent. This group has, for all intents and purposes, been replaced by the alt.fan.robotech newsgroup (see above)
- Rec.arts.anime.creative: Anime related fan-fiction (Moderated) See the mailing list section of the FAQ for information on how to subscribe to this group via email. This group used to be called rec.arts.anime.stories.
- Rec.arts.anime.fandom: The "Otaku no Newsgroup". An unmoderated newsgroup for issues and topics of interest to anime fandom. For conventions reports, anime club concerns, and legal matters. Discussion of fan artwork, and fan literature. For the organization of fan translations projects, and discussion of fansub projects (availability, technology, etc). Advice on the creation and maintenance of Internet and WWW fan resources, and pointers to the same. For the discussion of important fan issues, such as starting a fan club, organizing conventions, editing newsletters and fanzines, etc. This group should not be used for the trading of fansubs nor for the posting of binary files. - Rec.arts.anime.games: An unmoderated newsgroup for anime-related video games and RPGs, as well as related topics such as dealers, compatibility issues between US and Japanese systems, etc. A place where gamers may exchange anime game hints, discuss the merits of commercially available anime video games, and discuss the creation of card games (such as the Anime War Deck). Where gamers may organize and discuss anime RPG game rules and adaptations (Lodoss War, DOOM, Bubblegum Crisis). For the discussion of anime-based MUCKs and MUDs. - Rec.arts.anime.info: A moderated newsgroup for the posting of anime related announcements, news, synopses, reviews (Moderated). See the mailing list section of the FAQ for information on how to subscribe to this group via email. Note that articles posted here *can* be cross-posted to other appropriate groups.
- Rec.arts.anime.marketplace: Buying & selling of anime related merchandise. See the mailing list section of the FAQ for information on how to subscribe to this group via email.
- Rec.arts.anime.misc: For the discussion of anime related topics not covered by the other rec.arts.anime.* groups (They have their own groups) See the mailing list section of the FAQ for information on how to subscribe to this group via email.
- Rec.arts.anime.models: An unmoderated newsgroup for the discussion of anime models -- plastic models designed after Japanese animation characters. (An example of models are the Robotech models, which the game Mechwarrior is based on, only they are a little more fantastic in design.) Interest in models is on the increase, but availability is scarce outside of Japan. This newsgroup serves as a place for bringing model enthusiasts together, for sharing information, and for assistance in locating distributors. - Rec.arts.anime.music: An unmoderated newsgroup for the discussion of anime-related music, involving music as it pertains to the work as a whole. - Rec.games.mecha: an internet newsgroup devoted to mecha. No known mailing list exists for this newsgroup.
