HUMAN RIGHTS IN ITALY

0. Introduction

The present document is devoted to the problem of the respect of human rights
in Italy, namely civil and political rights. The document focuses on the
basic human rights among which:

- the right to life and not to be subjected to cruel, degrading or inhuman
punishment

- freedom of thought, religion, expression of ideas and press.

It would be desirable to extend the document in order to include social and
economical rights. It would be also desirable to add some more practical
information in order to help Italian citizens and foreign citizens living
in Italy to protect their basic rights against possible abuses by Italian
authorities.
