distribution.
For example, most of the major manufacturers
service large accounts themselves, and pass smaller
accounts onto distributors such as General Video
(which is actually a franchise; each regional GVA
branch is more-or-less independently owned). Some
manufacturers, such as VCX, service smaller
accounts directly.
Distributors are also involved in the production.
For example, Bay Management, the holding company
that owns the GVA-West franchise, also manages
adult movie stores in the Bay Area, owns Sin City,
the producer, and Profit Pak, a magazine
repackaging operation.
