QUANTUM QM 51275AT/52550AT BIGFOOT JUMPER SETTING

Jumper Setting
==============

The QM51275AT/QM52550AT has three drive mode jumper options:
DS (Drive Select), SP (Slave Present) and CS (Cable Select).

 Drive Select/Cable Select/Slave Present
 ---------------------------------------
 +---+---+---+-----------------------------------------------------+
 |CS |DS |SP | Description |
 +---+---+---+-----------------------------------------------------+
 | 0 | 0 | 0 |Drive configured as a slave. |
 | | | |Compatible with drives using the PDIAG- line to |
 | | | |handle Master/slave communications. |
 +---+---+---+-----------------------------------------------------+
 | 0 | 0 | 1 |Slave Drive |
 | | | |Uses the SP jumper to determine whether a Slave is |
 | | | |present, without checking PDIAG- or DASP-. |
 +---+---+---+-----------------------------------------------------+
 | 0 | 1 | 0 |Master Drive |
 | | | |Uses DASP- to check for the presense of a Slave. |
 +---+---+---+-----------------------------------------------------+
 | 0 | 1 | 1 |Master Drive |
 | | | |Uses the SP jumper to determine whether a Slave is |
 | | | |present, without checking PDIAG- or DASP-. |
 +---+---+---+-----------------------------------------------------+
 | 1 | X | X |Slave or Master Drive, depending on the state of the |
 | | | |Cable Select signal (pin 28) at the IDE-bus interface|
 | | | |connector. |
 | | | | |
 | | | |If the signal state is set to 0 (grounded), then the |
 | | | |drive is configured as if DS were 1, described above.|
 | | | |If the Cable Select signal is set to 1 (high), then |
 | | | |the drive is configured as if DS were 0, described |
 | | | |above. |
 +---+---+---+-----------------------------------------------------+

NOTE
In the table below, a 0 indicates that the jumper is removed, a 1
indicates that the jumper is installed, and an X indicates that the
jumper setting does not matter.

Master Drive
------------
The Master of a two drive configuration or as the only drive
(if the slave drive uses DASP).
DS CLOSED
SP OPEN
CS OPEN

Drive Select
------------
The DS jumper is used to identify the drive as a Master drive in a
single or dual drive configuration.

Master in a two drive system
----------------------------
If the Slave drive does not use DASP
DS CLOSED
SP CLOSED (Slave present)
CS OPEN

Slave Drive
-----------
A Slave drive in a two drive configuration:
DS OPEN
SP OPEN
CD OPEN

Slave Present
-------------
The SP jumper is only used when the second drive in a two drive
configuration does not support DASP. DASP (Drive active/drive 1
present) is a CAM (Common Access Method) defined signal that
indicates the presence of a second drive, DASP is used during power
on initialization and after a reset. Prior to this definition,
products were introduced which did not utilize this method to detect
the presence of a second drive. The SP jumper is only used on the
Master drive, with the DS jumper, when the second drive does not
support DASP.

Cable Select
------------
The CS (Cable Select) jumper is only used in systems that support
this feature. Cable Select allows for each IDE disk drive to be
jumped the same and the position on the cable determines the ID.
This requires special cable and both drives on the interface would
have to support this feature.
