Note: Donna Jean Godchaux also appears on numerous albums under her maiden
name, Donna Jean Thatcher. Before joining up the Dead, she was a backup
singer at the famed Muscle Shoals studios in Alabama. Donna sings on Percy
Sledge's "When A Man Loves A Woman". She also appears on Elvis Presley's "In
The Ghetto", "Suspicious Minds", "Cold Kentucky Rain", and "Long Black
Limousine" (along with members of the Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd
as backup musicians). She was deleted from the final mix of the Rolling
Stones' "Gimme Shelter" (from "Let It Bleed") because it was felt that she
took the spotlight away from Mick Jagger's singing. Donna also sings backup
on Lowell George's band Little Feat song "Dixie Chicken" and on Gary
Rossington's band Lynyrd Skynyrd song "Sweet Home Alabama".
Boz Scaggs - Boz Scaggs (Atlantic SD 8239) Donna Jean Thatcher sings backup
on all songs except "Now You're Gone". Duane Allman plays on the album and
also appears in the photo on this 1969 release.
Note: Dan Healy produced a number of records from late 1969 to early 1972,
including some for Mercury Records. Some of the records that Healy worked on
include: some of the Sir Douglas Quintet, Tracy Nelson and Mother Earth, The
Charlatans, Harvey Mandel's first two albums, Dr. John's second album,
"Cauldron" by The Fifty Foot Hose (Limelight Records LS 86062, released around
1968, producer and engineer), and Quicksilver Messenger Service's "Fresh Air"
and "What About Me" albums.
