This article is from the How to Start an Investment Program tutorial, author unknown.
This is the starting place. In this chapter, you will be introduced to a systematic step-by-step method to help you understand the basics of stock market investing. This is an area for novice investors, those of you who were technology majors as college undergraduates and never had a finance course.
For the novice investors looking to get started, my suggestion would be to read through and absorb all of the chapters included in this tutorial. This will give you the background to start a basic stock market investment program at a level that you will be comfortable with. It may be that you will want to invest only in mutual funds. Possibly you will want to try individual stock investing with the assistance of a broker. It matters not.
