05 Favorite Vampire Series

05 Favorite Vampire Series

The most votes went to Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. The majority
of the respondents recommended "Interview with the Vampire" and
"The Vampire Lestat", but their interest fell off with "Queen of the
Damned", "Tale of the Body Thief", and "Memnoch the Devil". Since
then, Rice has added "The Vampire Arrmand" to the Chronicle series and
begun the New Tales of the Vampires with "Pandora" and "Vittorio the
Vampire".

The second most favored series was the Anita Blake vampire hunter books
by Laurell K. Hamilton. The series currently has nine books: "Guilty
Pleasures", "The Laughing Corpse", "Circus of the Damned", "The Lunatic
Cafe", "Bloody Bones", "The Killing Dance", "Burnt Offerings", "Blue
Moon", and "Obsidian Butterfly".

In third place was Brian Lumley's Necroscope series, with the first
book, "Necroscope" being mentioned most often. There are three groups
to the Necroscope series. Series 1 (The Necroscope series) includes
"Necroscope", "Vamphyri!", "The Source", "Deadspeak", and "Deadspawn".
Series 2 (The Vampire World) includes "Blood Brothers", "The Last
Aerie", and "Bloodwars". Series 3 (The Lost Wars) includes "The Lost
Years" and "Resurgence".

Other series mentioned as favorites include the following:

The Bunnicula series by James Howe (includes "Bunnicula", "The Celery
Stalks at Midnight", "Howliday Inn", "Return to Howliday Inn",
"Nighty-Nightmare", and "Bunnicula Escapes".)
The Cold Fire trilogy by C.S. Friedman (includes "Black Sun Rising",
"When True Night Falls", and "Crown of Shadows").
The Saint-Germaine series by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro (includes "Hotel
Transylvania", "The Palace", "Blood Games", "Path of the Eclipses",.
"Tempting Fate", "Out of the House of Life", "Darker Jewels", "Better
in the Dark", "Manions of Darkness", "Writ in Blood", "Blood Roses",
"Communion Blood", "Come Twilight", "A Feast in Exile", and "Night
Blooming". "Midnight Harvest" will be out in Fall 2003).
The Blood series by Tanya Huff (includes "Blood Price", "Blood Trail",
"Blood Lines", "Blood Pact", and "Blood Debt").
The Family Dracul series by Jeanne Kalogridis (includes "Covenant with
the Vampire", "Children of the Vampire", and "Lord of the Vampires").
The Vampire Files by P.N. Elrod (includes "Bloodlist", "Lifeblood",
"Bloodcircle", "Art in the Blood", "Fire in the Blood", "Blood on
the Water", "A Chill in the Blood", "The Dark Sleep", and "Lady
Crymsyn").
The Austra Family series by Elaine Bergstrom (includes "Shattered
Glass", "Blood Alone", "Blood Rites", and "Daughter of the Night"),
The Vampire Diaries by Lisa Jane Smith.
Christopher Golden's series: "Of Saints and Shadows", "Angel Souls and
Devil Hearts", and "Of Masques and Martyrs".
The Sonya Blue series by Nancy Collins (includes "Sunglasses After
Dark", "In the Blood", "Paint it Black", and "A Dozen Black Roses".).
The Don Sebastian Series by Les Daniels (includes "The Black Castle",
"The Silver Skull", "Citizen Vampire", "Yellow Fog", and "No Blood
Spilled").
