I have the Makita 4550, which is probably the sander you are refering to.
It has satisfied my expectations, however, the plastic frame which
keeps the dust bag erect was brittle, and has broken in 3 places.
I'm tired of trying to repair it. I'll make a wire insert.
I agree with your analysis. Dust bags are handy for the non-production
shop. For production work, emptying them every 3 to 5 minutes becomes
a pain. ...ah, to have such friends...
