One year ago I bought my wife a scroll saw for Christmas. I looked around
rather extensively, but did not consider mail order. Natuarlly, the Delta
was the nicest, but also cost around $800. A better buy was the RBI,
which is an American made (Dayton, Ohio I think) quality saw for around
$500. I settled on a Highland, which is a (quality) Taiwan clone of the
RBI, 14" throat, 1-1/4" stroke, for about $400. I looked at several scroll
saws in the $100-$200 range, but all I saw was junk (pun intended). This
goes for the Sears unit, too. Hope this helps,
