I've been using the 1HP Ryobi R150 for two years. It is sold through
many advertisers in Fine Woodworking magazine for around $100. Although
it has been reliable, I wish now that I had gotten a larger, 1/2" router
such as the Hitachi TR-12 ($169). If you plan to do much woodworking,
I'd bet that you'd also quickly outgrow any router you can buy for under
$100. I'll add that my experiences with Sears power tools (sander, sabre saw,
drill) have been entirely negative -- they've all quit -- unlike my
trusty Bosch, Makita, and Ryobi tools.
