I would highly recommend any of the Elu routers. I think they claim to
have invented the router, so sounds like they've had a long time to
evolve products. I went with the Elu 3338 2.25 HP, variable speed
plunge router. A review in Popular Mechanics showed the Elu to be
significantly quieter as compared to all others being reviewed. I take
low acoustical noise to be somewhat an indicator of highly toleranced
construction and high quality. The plunge operation was smoother than
any other router I examined in the pre-purchase investigation. The
only bummer is the price -- $239 for the 3338 from Tools on Sale last
time I looked. The smaller Elu 3304 in the $180 range looks impressive
also.
