Just thought I'd let the radial arm saw user know that I have used the
book "Fine Tuning Your Radial Arm Saw". I just finished the "tune up"
and am quite impressed with the results. I have gotten in the habit of
checking the alignment using the manual that came with the saw before
starting a major project, but things were sometimes still not as close
as I would like them to be.
This book takes you beyond general setups included with the saw. I am
quite impressed with the results, and will continue with the "quick tests"
included in this book before each project. I own a 10-15 year old
Craftsman 10" ras. If you are using any ras and think you must settle
for accuracy that is less than a table saw, *get this book* and use it.
You'll find out how wrong you are and those who bash radial arm saws.
Since my saw was older than the saws in the book, I had sometime figure
out how to achieve the same adjustment on mine, but this wasn't any big
deal. I would be happy to help anyone using this book and is having any
problems setting up their saw.
By the way, I still wouldn't by the new Sears radial arms, there's some-
thing about that sheet metal carriage that makes me want to vomit.
