I have a Makita 12" planer and am very happy with it.
I feel the thickness adjustment works a bit better than on the Ryobi I
looked at.
As I recall, the Ryobi has a top-reading thickness scale. The Makita's is
on the side which is akward since I usually use it on the floor.
