This is for anybody out there that has a Penn St. Industries DC-3 portable
dust collector and has been agrivated to no end by trying to empty a bag
that only has a 4" opening.
This past weekend I had some planing to do and finally decided to convert
my dust collector to a two stage collector. The whole thing took about 15
minutes and works great. I took a 32 gallon Rubermaid trash can and cut 2
holes (with a razor knife) in the top of the can. I stuck a 4" PVC elbow
in each hole. I connected flexible dryer hose with a hose clamp to the PVC
elbows. I then connected one hose to my planer and the other hose to the
inlet of the dust collector.
It worked great. I was a little worried about the rubber trash can collapsing
but it didn't. I hope this helps somebody else that is as aggrivated as I
