60 Infill ("Norris") style planes
These are often called "Norris" planes after their most famous
manufacturer Thomas Norris of London. There were many other
makers, Norris earned his name by producing a very precise blade
adjuster. The basic design was popularized by Stewart Spiers of
Ayr Scotland, who adapted it from earlier designs of mitre
planes. Years after Spiers' success, Norris and other makers
such as Mathieson and Preston got on the bandwagon. So, Stew
probably stews each time someone calls the genre by the name of
his copy cat competitor.
