3j.7 When is the BCG vaccine contraindicated?

Hypersensitivity to the vaccine, positive TB skin test, recent
smallpox vaccination, burn patients, various immune deficiencies or
immunosuppressive therapy (see _AHFS Drug Information_ for a list). In
case of eczema or other skin disease, give it in a different area of
the skin. Although no harmful effects to the fetus are associated wtih
BCG vaccination, its use is not recommended during pregnancy.
