"The estimated lifetime risk of HBV infection in the United States
varies from almost 100% for the highest risk groups to approximately
5% for the population as a whole." (PDR) The CDC estimates about 0.75
- 1 million chronic carriers in the US, and more than 170 million are
estimated worldwide.
