The producer, Charles Feldman, gave Woody the instruction to "write
something where we can all go to Paris and chase girls." Warren Beatty was
originally supposed to star in the film (the title was his standard
greeting to any attractive female) but dropped out before filming. The role
went to Peter O'Toole.
