4.1.3 I just lost an auction by $1.00. How did this happen? (eBay)

Remember that eBay only bids the amount necessary to win the auction. You
don't really know how much the winner was willing to spend, all you know is
that it was at least $1 (or whatever the bid increment was) more than your
bid.
