This article is from the Misc Bicycles FAQs, by various authors.
From: grande@cbnewsd.cb.att.com (brad.l.grande)
As the shorter days approach, I promised to post some articles covering the
design of a home brew lighting system. I will present three parts:
1 - How to engineer a lighting system
2 - Charging Lead Acid Gel Cells
3 - My experiences and Suggestions
The material presented is geared towards systems built with lead acid gel
cells, however, the engineering principles still apply for other power sources.
These articles are geared (no pun intended) towards those of us who want to
build our own lighting systems without going over the edge in terms of design.
The first article is one I wrote for my local club newsletter and explains how
to determine your needs and/or what you have. The second is more of an
informational article on charging gel cells as this is one are of mystique.
The third will be a collection of my experiences based on three different
systems I have built and what I have learned.
