Drive ID
--------
Five pairs are assigned to set the drive number. By these pairs, it
is possible to set any drive ID from 1 to 4 or to set radial
connection.

Write protect
-------------
Write protection is activated by the jumper plug to the pair of pins
of the connector.

Terminators
-----------
Terminator resistors are connected to the interface signals when
plugged.

Miscellanious
-------------
Two pairs of pins for the drive model definition and two pairs for
the adjustment are prepaired in the connector. These pairs must not
be changed by the customer.

Indicator LED
-------------
The indicator LED and the connector for additional external
indication are prepared at the front on the printed circuit board.
The signal for indication becomes "ON" when the both UNIT SELECTED
and READY signals are "TRUE".

Mounting Instructions
---------------------
When mounting the drive, the cabinet frame should keep apart 0.1 inch
(2.5 mm) or more distance from the outer surface of the HDA and PCB
for vibrating space.

Use 4 tap holes located on both sides or bottom side of the drive
frame for fixing the drive.

Screws should not be penetrated more than 2.5mm from the outer
surface of drive frame to keep clearance between screw tips and PCB.

The drive frame is isolated from the HDA (signal ground).

Mounting screws M3X0.5, four in bottom, two in each side.

Cooling

Cabinet packaging designs must provide ample air circulation around
the drive to ensure environmental limits are not exceeded.

6 meters.

Features

TOSHIBA MK-130FA PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS 71Y101562, REV. A

General Description
-------------------
The MK130FA magnetic disk drive is a fixed magnetic disk drive with
standard 3.5-inch magnetic disks as recording media. The size and
mounting details are identical to the industry standard mini floppy
disk drives.

The MK130FA is a high-performance magnetic disk drive featuring
high-speed access, a recording capacity of 23 to 54 Megabytes and
high reliability employing the Winchester technologies and closed
loop servo control.

The disks are driven directly by a DC spindle motor. Air filtration
is provided by means of a high performance air circulation filter
system using breather and circulation filters. The drive provides an
automatic carriage lock mechanism to prevent the damage during non-
operating and transportation. The printed circuit board contains all
the electronic circuitry necessary to drive the equipment.

The circuit board is provided outside outside the HDA and has power
input and interface signal connectors. The circuit board contains an
interface circuit read/write circuit, spindle motor control circuit,
access (seek) and head positioning servo control circuit and abnormal
condition detecting circuit.

Options
-------
1. Control signal cable
2. Data transmission signal cable
3. Front panel

Write Precompensation
---------------------
Cylinders to be compensated: Cyl. 512 to cyl. 732
Compensation time: 12ns

Media Defect
------------
A media defect is a physical defect on media (disk). Such a defect
causes read errors repeatedly even if this drive is properly adjusted
and operated in a normal environmental condition. Valid data must not
be written deallocation or skip displacement techniques must be
utilized.

 1. Number of defects
    +-----------------+---------+---------+---------+
    |Model | MK132FA | MK133FA | MK134FA |
    +-----------------+---------+---------+---------+

    |Max. per surface | 15 | 15 | 15 |
    +-----------------+---------+---------+---------+

 2. Defect-free tracks
Head 0 and head 1 of cylinder 000 have no defect for all models at
    the time of factory shipment.

 3. At the time of factory shipment, there does not exist any defect
that causes an error of 11 and more consecutive bits. Therefore,
almost all defects may be corrected if ECC (Error Correction Code)
that can correct a 11-bit error is used.

Defective Sector Flag
---------------------
At the time of factory shipment, a data sheet is attached to the
drive, indicating the positions of defective sectors or sectors with
poor recording quality. The defective positions are indicated by the
head numbers and the byte address from the INDEX.
