Jumper Setting
==============
x = Jumpers at the shipment
User changeable jumpers are green.
Not user changeable jumpers are black.
Before this jumper plug installation/setting, please use ESD
protected cushioning material for safer operation. The following
jumpers are accessible for the user (use green jumper plugs, as for
J2 use blue jumper plugs):
SCSI ID setting jumper J2
SCSI bus parity jumper JP2
Terminator power on/off jumper JP7
Write protected jumper JP9
Motor Auto-start option jumper JP2
Synchronized spindle jumper JP2
Synchronized spindle Terminator JP6
Synchronized spindle signal connector J3
Note: The DK517C jumpers other than listed above are installed by the
manufacturer (black jumper plugs) and must not be modified or
replaced by the user. These settings are unique to each PCB.

of these jumpers. The mode to be supported will be decided when power
is turned on. The mode can be confirmed by MODE SENSE command and
changed by MODE SELECT command*
JP2 5-6 Motor Auto-start option
--------------------------------

is turned on.
OPEN The Spindle motor is not started automatically when
power is turned on. It can be started by using SCSI
command to start the drive.

drive controller. (Pins 1-2 CLOSED)
Note: Terminator power source is supplied to the terminator resistor
module from the host that pulls up the SCSI interface signals in the
controller so that the SCSI bus lines will not be pulled down when
DK517C power is turned down.
JP9 Write Protected
--------------------
CLOSED Write protected. The disk can be only read and cannot be
written.

Whenever you change the orientation of the drive it is recommended to
reformat the disks.
Mounting
--------
In order to assure shock protection ability, design the cabinet of a
system as described in this section.
- Mount the drive with four screws by using the proper 4 screw holes
(total of 8 holes - 4 side, 4 bottom) of the drive.
- The insertion depth of the mounting screws below the drive surfaces
must be less than
3.5mm (0.14inch) for side holes
5 mm (0.2 inch) for bottom holes
Sequential Activation of Motors
-------------------------------
When multiple disk drives are connected and turned on simultaneously,
a large amount of current will flow. It is recommended to turn the
motors on one by one at an interval of approx. 35 seconds. Indication
of "READY" on the last drive reports that all drives have been
activated.
