Terminal SW3 Main PCA

KEY 1(2^3) 2(2^2) 3(2^1) 4(2^0) Disk address ------------------------------------------------ OFF OFF OFF OFF 0 OFF OFF OFF ON 1 OFF OFF ON OFF 2 OFF ON ON ON 3 OFF ON OFF OFF 4 OFF ON OFF ON 5 OFF ON ON OFF 6 OFF ON ON ON 7 ON OFF OFF OFF 8 ON OFF OFF ON 9 ON OFF ON OFF 10 ON OFF ON ON 11 ON ON OFF OFF 12 ON ON OFF ON 13 ON ON ON OFF 14 ON ON ON ON 15
Keys 1 to 4 are used for setting the disk logical address (0 - 15).
Switch positions are binary coded.
Key 5 ----- ON Enable OFF Disable
This drive supports the tag 4/5 functions. The user can select these
functions by setting Key 5. In the OFF position tag 4/5 are
disabled. Control units that do not support teg 4/5 require this set
to OFF.
Key 6 ----- ON Soft sector mode OFF Hard sector mode
The user can select either hard sector or soft sector mode
Key 7 ----- ON Tag 2 system (ANSI type 1 mode) OFF Tag 4 system (ANSI type 2 mode)
Tag 2 and Tag 4 systems have different methods of sending the most
significant bits (2 bits). Select the system used with Key 7.
Key 8 ----- ON Remote mode OFF Local mode
SW3 Key 8 determines the disk drive initiation condition. When the
drive is in remote mode, the control unit initiates the drive and
rotates the disk by issuing the PICK/HOLD signal. In local mode the
disks rotate as soon as the power is turned on.
Terminal SW4 Main PCA
---------------------
Keys 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
These keys must not be moved. They are factory settings only.
Key 6 ----- ON Runt sector enabled OFF Runt sector disabled
When this key is ON and the track capacity cannot be divided by the
number of sectors, the last dummy sector is shorter than usual. When
this switch is OFF, the last sector is longer than usual.
Key 7 ----- ON Vertical mounting (on side) OFF Horizontal mounting
This key adjusts the servo characteristics that depend on the
orientation of the drive.
NOTE : A wrong setting may cause seek or write offtrack errors.
Key 8 ----- ON Release timer period = 1500 milliseconds OFF Release timer period = 500 milliseconds (See SW2 Key 3 for further details)
Terminal SW2 Main PCA --------------------- Key 1 2 Function ----------------------- OFF OFF Both channels enabled ON OFF Channel A disabled OFF ON Channel B disabled ON ON Both channels enabled
These keys determine the connection state between the drive and the
control unit of the host computer. Key 1 corresponds to Channel A
while Key 2 to Channel B. The drive port is disconnected from the
control unit and all interface signals are disabled when each setting
is ON.
Key 3 ----- ON Release timer activated OFF Release timer not activated
When the release timer is activated, the drive reserved condition
shall be released automatically after the specified period in the
RESERVE command. (See SW4 Key 8). When not activated, the reserved
condition may be released only by a RELEASE command issued by the
controller.
Key 4 ----- ON Enable write protection OFF Disable write protection
Key 5 ----- ON Calibration seek performed OFF Normal
Calibration seek must be executed at any time the main PCA is
replaced to optimise the servo control coefficient. To execute the
calibration seek set key 5 to the ON position and turn on the power.
Calibration seek is performed automatically. After completion in
approx. 4 minutes the STOP LED will blink. Set key 5 to the OFF
position to put the drive in the READY state.
Key 6 ----- ON Set device type to M2391K/D OFF Set device type to M2392K/D
Keys Number of bytes per sector -------------------------------------- 7 16384 (2^14) 8 8192 (2^13) 9 4096 (2^12) 10 2048 (2^11)
The number of sectors per track is determined by the settings of SW1
Main PCA keys 1 to 10 and SW2 keys 7 to 10 which controls the number
of bytes per sector regardless of the sector mode setting (SW3 Key
6). The actual bytes/sector value is obtained by adding 2 to the
position setting value. The bytes/sector must be an even number.
Terminal SW1 Main PCA
---------------------
Setting the sector count : Use in conjunction with SW2 keys 7 to 10
Keys Number of bytes per sector ------------------------------- 1 1024 (2^10) 2 512 (2^9) 3 256 (2^8) 4 128 (2^7) 5 64 (2^6) 6 32 (2^5) 7 16 (2^4) 8 8 (2^3) 9 4 (2^2) 10 2 (2^1)
(See notes for SW2 keys 7 to 10)
Terminal SW1 Interface PCA
--------------------------
Spindle synchronisation mode :
Key 1 2 3 Function ------------------------------------------- Ignored Ignored OFF Program mode OFF OFF ON Slave mode ON OFF ON Master mode OFF ON ON Self (local) mode ON ON ON Master control mode
The mode is set by switch for the drive or command (program mode)
from the control unit through the interface.
Key 4 ----- ON Disable spindle sync from channel B OFF Enable spindle sync from channel B
In the ON position spindle sync mode is enabled only from channel A.
Key 5 6 ON ON Slave synch termination enabled OFF OFF Slave synch termination disabled
Key 7 8 ON ON Master synch termination enabled OFF OFF Master synch termination disabled
A pair of signal lines in a balanced differential type must be
terminated properly. The line termination is alread mounted in the
interface PCA and can be activated through keys 5 to 8.

Installation direction
----------------------
The drive may be installed either PCA up or on left edge (viewed from
the rear).
Mounting Kit
------------
It is recommended that the drive should be mounted in the special
mounting frame designed for this purpose.
Cooling
-------
Cooling should be provided to keep the temperature of the disk
enclosure within specified limits. An air flow of at least 1m(3)/min
is recommended.
