Lurex was a trademarked brand of socks back in the late 60's and
early 70's. The stitching patterns were done with a sort of metallic
thread, which gave them a shiny look. Therefore, a "rocker" would wear
Lurex socks, because of the metallic quality (HEAVY METAL!!!!).
