Use:

Hylan G-F 20 or Synvisc is a course of three injections for osteoarthritis.

How It Works:

Hylan G-F 20 or Synvisc is a biopolymer of a polysaccharide substance - a synthetic substance. It is injected into the synovial area of the knee and acts to supplement and restore the shock absorbing, protecting, and lubricating properties of the synovial fluid.
Hylan G-F 20 or Synvisc is useful in conditions like osteoarthritis and the process itself is known as visco supplementation. The net result is a knee joint that has reduced pain and improved mobility.

Side Effects:

Hylan G-F 20 or Synvisc has side effects associated with the injection - pain, swelling, and tenderness at the injection site.

Cautions for People:

Hylan G-F 20 or Synvisc requires three to eight weeks to have its maximum effect - patience is required.

Drug Interactions:

Hylan G-F 20 or Synvisc can be used in conjunction with the various drug therapies used for conditions like osteoarthritis.
