Nystatin powder or Candistatin is an antifungal agent ideal for fungal infections such as diaper rash or stoma fungal infections where touching or rubbing the affected area is difficult and/or painful.
Nystatin causes the fungal cell wall to not form properly. Without the cell wall, the fungi dies. Nystatin has no effect on human cell walls.
Nystatin may produce irritation at the side of application, however the effect is minor and not noticeable given the skin irritation of the skin infection itself.
People should be ensure that it is a fungal infection for which they are using the Nystatin powder or Candistatin.
