Use:

Gabapentin or Neurontin is an anticonvulsant used in conditions like epilepsy. It has also be used with some success for post poliomyelitis pain, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and hemifacial spasm.

How It Works:

Gabapentin or Neurontin is related to gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) which is a natural neuro chemical found in the nervous system.

Side Effects:

Gabapentin or Neurontin can cause fatigue, weight gain, indigestion, drowsiness, dizziness, ataxia, and tremor.

Cautions for People:

Gabapentin or Neurontin is an add on epileptic drug, meaning that people do not usually use it alone. Children respond well to Gabapentin or Neurontin.

Drug Interactions:

Alcohol is able to increase Gabapentin or Neurontin's levels in the body.
