flax-seed (Eng)

As elsewhere, flax is cultivated for its seed in Ethiopia. It is generally used as a demulcent laxative drink. At the end of the lenten period, people take telba drink to soften their system in preparation for the big meat mea.l on Easter Day and thereafter. The seeds are lightly roasted before they are ground to make the drink.
