38 Thanks for Sander info!!

A while ago I posted a request for recommendations for repairing a
Sears orbital/linear sander I have, and for recommendations on a good
brand with which to replace it.

I received several notes of commiseration from unhappy owners of Sears
sanders. My last attempt at repair lasted all of 10 minutes before it
fell apart again.

I also received several recommendations of brands of sanders people had
been happy with. It turned out that the local lumber yard had a sale
going on Milwaukee tools, so I got a Model 6014 1/2-sheet sander for a
little more than I had paid for the Sears unit. WHAT A MACHINE!!!
It is built very simply and ruggedly. Where the Sears unit operated at
4000 orbits per minute, the Milwaukee unit cranks over at 12000. It
gets the job done in far less time than the Sears unit. Since I have
had the Milwaukee unit for only a short while, I cannot say anything
about its durability or the ease of getting it repaired. I am quite
well pleased with it at the present.
