I am in the market for a small belt sander. I have not actually tried
any of the available models to decide but am trying to make the
decision based on the surveys in FWW and Wood mag. It looks like
Ryobi 3X21 is feature packed and economically priced. I also noticed
that Wood mag praised Alu for its more even (flat pattern) sanding.
Since I have not used either of them and I do not plan to visit local
store for demo, only to waste their time by buying by mail order
(which I plan to do), I would like to know is it worth while (better
projects shorter sanding) to invest in a much more expensive Elu (more
than $200-00) as opposed to Ryobi ($130-140). I would like to buy
quality tools but at a reasonable price (I have negative bias towards
most of Europian tools for intermediate ameteur use, they may be ideal
though for the pros/industrial use).
