Fine Woodworking or Home Building reviewed belt sanders this spring.
Comprehensive review, check it out. I have a 4X24 Bosch which is quite nice.
I have also owned a 4X24 Rockwell which performed very well for many years.
I do quite a bit of heavy work so these "choo choo" models are best for me.
They really float nicely and can do major scrubbing if you use 60 or 80 grit
paper.

Read the review as it lists the various options available of the sanders.
Some of the new options comming out of Europe are very nice and could give you
a multi purpose tool.
