I have a Porter Cable Model 691 (1.5 hp, D-handle, 1/4 & 1/2" collets) and
have been very happy with it; I highly recommend it for heavy use. PC has
a large line of router models, so you may find one better suited to your
needs. Their routers are not plunge type, but I have never found this to
be a hindrince. Actually, I was so pleased with my 691's performance, that
I bought a PC bayonet saw and belt sander and will eventually get their
plate joiner! In addition - this may not be important to you - but PC is
made in USA (formerlly Rockwell International).

Although I'm sold on PC, I'm sure other brands such as Bosch, Milwaukee,
and Black & Decker's Elu line are good quality as well . . .
