I recently posted a similar query and received some useful responses.
First, decide if you want plunge capability (Makita, Hitachi, Ryobi, and
and a very expensive Bosch, I think) or the more standard type of
screw adjustment. I believe the plunge routers would be rated as
1. Makita (around $175 plus guides $30), 2. Hitachi (around $175, guides
included 3. Ryobi (around $150 guides included ).
Thus, their quality is proportional to price.
The Hitachi is only a few dollars more than the Ryobi, but
I understand is much better. However, getting the Hitachi
repaired could be more difficult
than Makita in certain parts of the country.
I bought the Makita and so far, am very pleased.

I think the Porter Cable D-Handle can be had for around $125, and the
Milwaukee is around $215.

On bits, I received a reply that Freud carbide bits hold their edge
better than the Bosch bits, if that is of interest.
