I do think that I should be able to rely on the biscuits for alignment.
After all, I believe that spline jointery is weaker than edge to edge
glue joint, but you doo use the splines for alignment. When you have
an end grain joint to make then the biscuits to add greater strength.

I've cut a board after edge gluing it with biscuits and have found voids
in the biscuit joint. Does this happen to you?
