3d.7 What about rifampin prophylaxis?
An alternative to HiB vaccination is rifampin prophylaxis, but it
could be unwieldy to administer. AHFS Drug Information says that it is
"effective for eradicating nasopharyngeal carriage of HiB, but the
efficacy of the drug for prevention of secondary disease has not been
firmly established."
